To most supporters and proponents of the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill, this piece of legislation will never fail once it gets enacted. It will be our savior, our Jesus Christ, that will definitely lower the growth in population starting day one. I don’t buy that crap.
I will not deal into the issues of contraceptives, abortions, morality or immorality here. What I think is important is whether this bill really kicks the butt off the main problem, which I do not believe it can do. It will not even reach first base. I bet on that. It will only be a waste of money from our pockets.
Why? Here’s why – how long has our DOH been distributing condoms and pills and administered injectables? Maybe almost 10 years now or more? How long has DOH been conducting seminars in the rural areas and in the urban slums, teaching family planning? How long have our public schools been teaching population education to students? I even had such subject when I was in grade school. Even married couples nowadays are required to undergo family planning before they got hitched. Did the program prosper? Did our population dip? It even went up fer chrissakes!
And why, despite all these campaigns by the DOH, did our population still grow? It is because we cannot defy NATURAL LAW. We cannot go against it! The purpose of all living creatures is to multiply, to procreate, unless maybe some meteors hit our planet; some tsunamis, earthquakes, wars, famines, etc. hit our country all at the same time, then our numbers will dissipate in a day or two.
I don’t believe that disseminating information or making people aware of the consequences of their actions will make them stop the things that they do. If that is the case, then we should have by now a zero case of drug pushing and drug abuse, or even zero crime.
So how do we do it? How do we stop population growth? Give NATURAL LAW a dose of human-caused NATURAL LAW. What is the main cause of population growth? SEX. How do we stop sex? We cannot stop sex silly because it is the NATURAL LAW, unless we are some communist and dictatorial country which will effectively ban sex (like imposing a logging ban), for a year or two.
But how do we have sex and not get pregnant? Buy condoms, buy pills, buy injectables? How can we buy those things if we can’t even afford to buy a pack of noodle soup to last 1 day? That’s BS. And how many of our countrymen experience such fate? Not hundreds or thousands. Millions.
We have to focus on improving our economy, so that we can generate more jobs. If almost everyone has work to do, then everyone will be too busy thinking about sex at 10 in the morning, 12 noon, and 3 in the afternoon. One can think of it when he gets home after dinner, but he is now too tired to do it. The stress will even add up to him or her to produce good sperms or ovulate. This is what is happening in industrialized and progressive countries. That is why these countries have very difficult times of making babies.
The RH Bill is not the Messiah. It will definitely fail like most of the other laws that our legislators passed. So, what a waste of money it would be.
